Vegan Double Chocolate Chip and Orange Cookies


I felt we needed an addition to our cookie recipes. We like traditional chocolate chip cookies (who doesn’t?) but we were after something a little bit different. So we doubled the chocolate and added Orange. Chocolate and orange are one of those great combinations that just seem to work all the time. These are super easy to make and fly off the plate!


Free From: Dairy, egg, soya

Contains: Gluten

Preheat oven to 180°C, 350°F

Grease a large baking sheet




3 cups plain flour

3 tbsp. cocoa

2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

¾ cup dairy free chocolate chips

2/3 cup Sunflower Margarine (I use Pure)

3 tbsp. Trex Vegetable fat (if you don’t have any then replace with margarine)

2/3rd cup Caster Sugar

1 cup brown sugar

1 tbsp. vanilla

2 tsp orange flavouring

Zest of one orange chopped fine

2 tsp orange juice

3 tsp egg replacer plus 3 tbsp. warm water



Cream the brown sugar, caster sugar with the margarine and Trex. Mix in the vanilla and orange flavourings and orange juice.

In a separate bowl mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa, orange zest and chocolate chips.

Whisk the egg replacer with the water until it’s a bit bubbly.

Add the egg replacer to the flour mixture and mix in the butter/sugar mixture.

You will get a stiff dough.

Vegan Double Chocolate Chip and Orange Dough

Take about a tablespoon of batter, roll it into a ball and flatten slightly.  Place on the baking about an inch apart.

Bake for 10 minutes. Once they come out of the oven give them a good whack on the counter – this creates nice cracks in the top and flattens them out. Cool on a wire rack.

This recipe makes about 24 cookies.
