We were at the Pro Am Waterski Competition at JB Ski this summer - lots of fun, and food trucks around. Naturally we assumed we'd be out of luck as the dairy and egg combination can be a bit of a killer for that type of eating. Molly adores fish, so we took a deep breath and went over to talk to the folk running the Sea Wise Food Truck to see if there was anything she could eat apart from the chips!
She had her eye on the calamari - I figured this was a long shot as I was sure it would be battered. Nevertheless, we wandered over to have a chat and were delighted to find out that it was simply dusted with seasoned flour and deep fried.
It was, simply, wonderful. Tender, and crisp without being greasy or rubbery. Molly inhaled it and I headed back to have another chat.
Turns out they have a restaurant in Camden, North London and the man doing the cooking was none other than the restaurant owner, James Belton. I've taken a peak at the menu and it looks fab (assuming you love fish and seafood). The dishes seem to concentrate on the ingredients, and if the calamari is anything to go by will be cooked beautifully.
When I'm next in North London, I know where I'm going for dinner. Once I read their website I could see why the food looked so delicious. Here's what they say on their website:
With fresh seafood delivered daily (all lobsters and oysters are delivered live from Billingsgate Fish Market) and prepared for each order, you are guaranteed one of the tastiest and delicious offerings available anywhere in North London....From the best fish and chips dinner in Camden through to oysters, mussels and lavish hot or cold large seafood platters. There is something for all tastes and budgets.
They were very helpful when it came to discussing allergies, something I'm sure they recreate in the restaurant.
Take a look for yourselves, here's the link to their website Sea Wise.
