Molly loves Pesto...and as a young child she often had it on pasta or chicken. Sadly it went the way of the dodo when she was diagnosed as milk allergic. Her love of it had been one of the things that had been making her so sick which was such a pity. So we've had years' of a pesto desert. We've tried some of the other 'milk free' brands and she really didn't like them. Some of them just had a chunky consistency that she really didn't like.
Then during the week I was staring at the Freedom Foods section of our local Sainsbury's and noticed that they were stocking Sacla pesto there...odd I thought...probably claiming to be gluten free or something equally unhelpful. But I picked it up anyway and lo and behold it said 'free from wheat, gluten and dairy'. So I picked it up to take home to see what Molly thought.
It was wonderful. She loves it. Pesto is back on the menu again. It's very similar in texture to their 'normal' pesto which is great. It has soya in it I'm afraid, so I'm going to limit how often she has it, as I've my beady eye on soya...so our new found happiness may not last. But for now? Thank you Scala for this, and thank you Sainsbury's for stocking it!
